Storm

We just had a storm with 80 mile an hour winds and hail the size of quarters. That white stuff is hail. That pitiful looking plant was a beautiful Hosta. We have a lot of metal off of our roof too. We have trees down. Now that the sun is out I'm off to take pictures of the downed trees.

Some births are harder than other.

And all babies/dolls are not pretty. Her eyes need a lot of work. But instead of finishing the face, I decided to give hers some clothes. I didn't smooth her skin nearly enough. So, I must cover up as much body as possible. This fairy may be a first and last. Oh I do have a 2 1/2 inch fairy that needs to be painted. I'll put pictures of her up when she is finished.

We were talking to our daughter and Jadon this morning. David decided to show Jadon the doll via the Web Cam. big big mistake. She cried she wanted the doll. At 18 months old she doesn't understand the distance between us. She wanted her "Pa" to bring the doll to her. We went to great lengths to try and make her understand that we would mail the doll to her. Now her poor Mother will have to listen to her ask about the doll until it arrives. Which will be at least 3 weeks. I never dreamed she would even be interested in the doll.

I haven't exactly made her to be appropriate for a child this age....hummm...better glue the clothes on.

Labor pains continue

She had hands. Still more smoothing to be done. I should cut my nails. Everytime I get one area almost smooth I stick my nail in some other part...woe is me.

A Walk in the Yard

It feels like summer. It looks like summer. The calendar says it is still Spring.
We are in a drought situation. So, why did this Turtle leave the pond?

The primroses are blooming and so are the lillies. The cone flowers want to...the buds are all but bursting open. The flower bed with the primrose blooming hosts my native plants. I'll have more pictures later when everything else is blooming.

Fairy dip

Giving birth to a fairy is labor intensive. Her body needs more work. I have one hand (which isn't attached) sculpted. No feet yet....

Mary Os Recipe RR

These altered cookbooks are just too much fun. My pictures are just really bad. I need a new camera. You will at least get an idea of what the pages look like. Mary O has a wonderful book to work with.

I've been tagged by Yvette. Hummm I need to write 7 things about me.
1. I'm a great starter. I start lots of projects. As soon as I find out I can do it!!! I start to lose interest. I need to be challenged.
2. Speaking of being challenged I am house keeping challenged. I have just never figured out a good way to keep my house clean. (Help Jacque)
I want it to be clean...maybe I should hire a cleaning person??? But I would have to at least straighten up first.
3. I love flowers, wildlife, horses, dogs, cats, my husband, my children, my grandchildren, son in laws, most all of my relatives, art, auctions, God, me time...but not necessarily in that order.
4. I try to keep up with my fda family but I fall short sometimes.
5. I'm retired. Hurray!
6. I've been married to a cowboy for 40 years. That is most of my adult life.
7. I hope my emails don't come out as harsh sometimes. If you could see my face you would see a smile most of the time.

It works this way: Someone tags you and you have to list 7 things or habits about yourself on your blog, then tag 7 OTHER people (make sure you let them KNOW you're tagging them) who'll write 7 things or habits about themselves on THEIR blogs. Now I have to figure out 7 people who have not been tagged.

Christmas in May..sort of

I do one craft show a year. "Trims and Whims" in Shelbyville, Kentucky. I make Christmas ornaments all summer. I love making them...just not right after Christmas. By the time I get 5 Christmas trees and assorted ornaments put away in January...well by then the last thing I want to do for several months is make an ornament, look at an ornament...well you get the picture. And speaking of pictures here are of the few ornaments I made this week.

Redecorated Laundry Room

My daughter, Tonya, and son in law, Patrick. Are like elves that come in the middle of the night. They do magic in my house. Almost when I am not watching. Recently they redid my laundry room. And now it is so cute. Laundry doesn't seem to be such a chore now. Because I have such a happy, bright room.

Atd Made by Jacque Uetz

This wonderful ATD was made by Jacque...especially for my Laundry room. I decided the washboard would be a great place to display it.

Weather Report

We had some awesome clouds come in late this evening. And when the clouds reached us....lots of rain lots of wind. But we don't have any damage.

Nothing like 33 years ago on this date. When 3 tornadoes hit the little town my husband and I were raised in. Many houses were just gone. The streets were covered with everything imaginable. House parts, barn parts, peoples clothes and prize possessions littered the roads and made them impassible.

We were really lucky that day. Our house had some major damage. Our barn was gone. Our horse trailer was sitting on top of my car. So you might be thinking what was so lucky. Our whole family was fine. No injuries. No one in our extended families were harmed. Even our animals made it through those storms unharmed. Our dog Hobo thought it was his lucky day. He came out from under debris (where our neighbor's house use to be) with a whole beef roast in his mouth.

Can you believe this...another ATD

This one has a name or I guess a title. the Nannie!

RR Recipe Journal

I have completed one page of Sherry's RR recipe Journal. She asked for Coffee recipes. One of the birthday gifts from My Sister, Jo, was watercolor pencils. So, I had to try them out. The coffee pot and mugs are done with the watercolor pencils. It was fun.

Now one more page in Sherry's journal to go.

ATD for Jacque

Jacque here is your ATD...

Sewing Cabinet

Jacque wanted a long shot of the sewing cabinet....soooo here it is. It is sitting on the porch on a church pew. No..I am not going to leave it there. It hasn't found a permanent place in the house yet.

Laundry Room

Oh this wall is so bright!!! I love it. It is called Cherries Jubilee! The border will go up next!

Birthday Present

Our Daughter, Tonya and her husband, Patrick gave this to me for my birthday. It is some kind of old sewing cabinet. I think the top is not original...but the pieces married well together, I think.
The very top part of the first picture is a Hosier cabinet...so ignore that part. The other two pictures are looking inside the bottom two drawers. I'll try to replace that top picture tomorrow when the sun is shinning and I can get a better picture.

Jadon and Ella

I just received these yesterday via email. Oh, how I miss these little girls.

Yes, Yes still another one

In the middle of the night....I was wide awake...my muse would not leave me alone. So, I worked or played depending on how what you consider work or play until about 4:00 am. And yet another ATD came to being. I used Judi W's pattern to Create/Make.. Go Fly A Kite. I am not sure about her...but I don't think she means it in a good way.
Her eyes look black in the photo...but they really are a pretty blue.
Thanks Judi for the pattern.

Will this Madness ever Stop?

I can't help myself...these little ATD's keep bugging me to do more. This one I used water color paper...and water colors, stickers, buttons, ribbon, pompoms, stamps.....This one I call Celebration.

Help...I can't stop!

Two more!! They passed the husband test. He laughed out loud when he saw them. He asked me where I got my ideas. I told him I didn't know. He said, Well they are cute. I'll take that as a compliment.

Where do these ideas come from? Ok, one came from the bird, the ladies reminded me of me and those garden ornaments people use to have in their yards (you know the fat ladies bending over made of plywood), the Garden Goddess..well..Spring (it has been in the 60's here today and Jacque was on my mind and she is a Garden Goddess, the last one.. the phrase is one I used on a ATC and it was laying on my work table. And Sherry's pattern reminded me of balloons. So to answer my own question. The ideas come from 50 almost 60 years of seeing...not looking but really seeing things. So much for my philosophizing! Is that a word?

Another ATD

This is that same basic Pattern that Sherry so generously gave us. It can be so many things. It just begs to be something different every time I see it. The other morning, it was cold, and there was a little bird sitting on the railing of the porch. He was all puffed up and what did I see...Yep, Sherry's pattern. Some how the image changed as I was creating the little fat bird.

Recipe RR Judi A's book

Two more pages in the RR recipe swap. This wonderful book belongs to Judi A. She wanted regional type recipes. So what could be more Kentucky than Derby Pie. My oldest daughter said, "A Hot Brown, Mom." She may be right. But I already had Derby in my brain. I scanned a small painting I had done of a Thorough Bred colt and included it on one page.

Artist Trading Dolls

Sherry, Jacque and Judi W have done it now. Sucked me into a new internet group. Artist Trading Dolls. I got hooked real quick. I just haven't quite got a good hand on the Artistic Paper Doll yet. What you don't believe me? Look for yourself. This is a different picture than the one last night. I took this one in the daylight...sure beats the other one taken with a flash.

FDA teapot doll swap

Sherry Goshon gave us a wonderful Teapot Doll Pattern. We did a giant swap. Sherry graciously hosted the swap and put all those parts together and mailed them to us. Wow What a big job she had. We assembled them and added whatever we wanted.

I added the lace collar and will add some buttons. Yes, she has to have buttons. Oh, and I added the wild hair. Not sure if she is going to keep the hair or get a new Do!
The face is a mold by Jacque Uetz..the body was made by Sherry and the face was painted by Sherry. A list of the other contributors is a few pictures below.

Jadon's Purse and Scarf

Jadon is 27 months old and loves to play dress up. So, being the doting Grandmother that I am. I have just finished knitting a purse and scarf for her to dress up with.
