Organize Creative Ideas

Do you wake up in the middle of the night with a great idea? Then forget what it was by the next morning.
Keep a notebook by the bed and write it down.
Keep another one in the Kitchen and one next to your easy chair. And I know you already have one in your studio.

While you are driving down the road do you get insight into a project you are working on?
Ok, this one is tricky. You could write it down on that note pad that you keep in your purse but, first you would have to dig the note pad and the pen out of your purse. A little tape recorder would work...Or what I do leave yourself a voice mail on your home phone or your husbands cell phone. Leaving one on your husbands phone is more fun. And keeps him guessing. A word of caution. Put down the cup of coffee before you try using the phone and driving through the busiest intersection in town.

And even though I tried to be organized I still had those little pieces of paper with insights, ideas, problem solvers, and the inevitable grocery list laying various places in my car and home.

My solution: Is in the picture above. It is or was a 1998 calendar/planner that I never used. I altered it. Now it has pockets and sections labeled: craft ideas, future products, craft shows to attend, well you get the idea. I take all those misc. pieces of paper and put them in the book. Some I write in. Some I simply paste the note in. Many of the pages are stamped, painted: altered. It is a good place to try something new and stay semi-organized too.

This paperdoll and journal page is for a round robin in progress. This paperdoll and page will end up in Alaska, via Kentucky, Georgia, and Utah.
The Journal has already been to New York.

Oh My I think I have had plane trips that took this same route.

transform the ugly black 3 ring binder

Thursday, March 23, 2006
Do you have one or more of those ugly black 3 ring binders. I do....many...maybe too many.
It is easy to change it into something pretty. Your need lots of ribbon. Bet you have some in a box somewhere.
Here are some brief insturctions.
Gather your ribbon.
You will need some 13 inches long.
enough pieces to cover the front of the binder from top to bottom.
You will need some 12 inches long.
Again enough to cover the front of the binder from side to side.
Glue about in inch of one end of the 13 inch pieces to the inside of the front cover. Let them hang down over the front. Now glue about an inch of one end of each of the 12 inch pieces down the opening side of the inside of the cover. Now start weaving. I did the weaving from side to side and glued each ribbon down on the spine area as I went. Then pulled on the ribbons running vertically and glued them to the inside of the binder front cover. I glued a wide ribbon down the spine to cover the ends of the woven strips. I glued ribbon on the inside around the 3 sides that had ribbon glued to them....to cover the glued down ends.
I left the back black...but it would be easy enough to cover the whole binder in the same manner....just need more ribbon. LOL

Good Wednesday Morning

March 15, 2006
This is my first attempt at a Blog.
I want to share an ATC that I made. I used babywipes and stamped images for the background and a really neat butterfly stamped on to the cover of a brochure.
